Dear Parents,
We are very pleased to announce that it is our intention to open school for the 2007-2008 academic year on Sunday morning, 2nd September 2007. School will start as usual at 7:45am and close a little earlier at 1:30pm. Would parents kindly note that due to the peculiar circumstances of this year’s opening we will not be offering the school lunch programme until further notice.
As you are aware the Iranian authorities have restricted access to the Gholhaq compound and the school. This has caused us some difficulties in preparing for the school year but we are confident we will be ready to start on Sunday.
At this point we have had no indication from the Iranian authorities as to whether or not they intend to prevent the school opening. Anyone wishing to enter the school premises may well be challenged and asked to state their business by the Diplomatic Policeman on duty before entering. We would therefore urge all parents to bring their children to school as normal. However at this point it would be misleading of me to say that we can guarantee we will have access. I shall be outside school on Sunday morning and will advise everybody as to the situation at the time.
As mentioned above these are ‘peculiar’ times in the life of our school and we all want to see it continue to grow and prosper. If we are to maintain this important service for the children of our community it is vital that we use it.
On behalf of the school and the community it serves we would like to thank our many friends in the diplomatic corps based here for their support in trying to ensure the provision of a quality English based education continues in Tehran.
Should we have any further information we will pass it on to parents immediately.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday morning.
Peter Yates
Head
